Harnessing the Power
of the California Sun.
Decarbonizing the Almond Supply Chain.
Most processors burn natural gas to create steam. CCP uses the sun. By investing in a high-temperature solar thermal system, we've made the pasteurization step — the most energy-intensive part of almond processing — entirely carbon-free on clear-sky days. For brands reporting Scope 3 emissions, choosing CCP delivers a measurable, verifiable reduction in your supply chain's carbon footprint.

Solar-Thermal Steam
Unlike standard solar panels that only create electricity, CCP has invested in a High-Temperature Solar Thermal System — fundamentally more efficient for industrial process heat.
Using a 4-acre field of high-precision parabolic trough collectors, we track the sun's path to concentrate heat onto specialized closed-loop tubes. This thermal energy is transferred to a heat exchanger that produces 100 psig of pure process steam — identical in performance to traditional boilers but with zero greenhouse gas emissions.
"The steam generated by our solar field is indistinguishable from boiler steam in performance — the only difference is the source. Sunlight, not gas."
- Parabolic Trough Collection — 4 acres of precision mirrors track the sun, concentrating solar radiation onto a central receiver tube.
- Thermal Energy Transfer — A closed-loop water-based system (not flammable oil) captures the heat and routes it to the heat exchanger.
- 100 psig Process Steam — The heat exchanger produces 100 pounds per square inch of pure process steam — delivered directly to the pasteurization system.
- Zero-Emission Pasteurization — On clear-sky days, 100% of process heat is solar-generated — zero natural gas consumed in the kill-step.
Your Scope 3 Emissions — Reduced.
By choosing CCP as your almond ingredient processor, your brand gains a verifiable, documented data point for sustainability reporting. Our solar-steam process is measurable and available for your ESG disclosures.
Beyond Steam
1.5 Million kWh of Renewable Electricity
In addition to our solar thermal steam system, our Madera campus features a rooftop photovoltaic (PV) solar array designed to produce 1.5 Million kWh of clean electricity annually.
This powers our sorting lines, milling equipment, climate-controlled storage, and facility operations — all from the California sun.
- 1.5M kWh Annual Generation — Rooftop photovoltaic solar covering the entire processing campus
- 1,067 Metric Tons CO₂ Offset — Combined electric + thermal solar reduces our total carbon footprint annually
- Battery Backup Storage — On-site storage ensures uninterrupted processing even during grid events
